Erika Doomes
Erika Doomes (she/her) holds a Master's Degree of Social Work with a Specialization in Mental Health from the Silberman School of Social work at CUNY Hunter College. Erika is a strengths- based, person first, and trauma informed therapist who supports clients in navigating various concerns including but not limited to difficult life transitions, everyday stressors, depression, anxiety, and grief. She believes that clients are the experts of their own experiences and works collaboratively to support their healing journey.
Erika has worked directly with individuals, adolescents, and families in the foster care setting for over 6 years; supporting clients in their navigation of provider agencies and resources. She has extensive experience in teaching and facilitating parenting classes and youth career development workshops. In addition to providing individual therapy, Erika is the co-facilitator for the "Together we Rise: Co-Parenting to Raise Joyful Humans" co-parenting group at Love and Kindness Wellness Services.
Erika's therapeutic approach is holistic and utilizes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solutions focused, and narrative therapies. She also incorporates non-western techniques that emphasize connection to land and body, as well as intergenerational wisdom and experience. Erika is an avid believer in the healing of the collective, and invites space within session to honor various cultural perspectives.
