Kelsey Akpan holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work, specializing in Mental Health. Her unique multicultural perspective is shaped by her African American and Nigerian heritage, alongside a Caribbean upbringing. This rich cultural background informs her approach, enabling her to connect deeply with individuals across the diaspora while appreciating the diversity within cultural experiences.
Kelsey works from a client-centered, strengths-based lens, within an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches. She integrates humanism, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This blend allows her to tailor her interventions to the unique needs of each client, fostering empowerment and self-healing.
Kelsey’s professional journey includes working with folks ranging from adolescence to elders, with significant experience in higher education as a learning coach. She has also served as a care coordinator, providing vital support to clients dealing with substance abuse, physical and mental health diagnoses, and life transitions. Her expertise extends to addressing work stressors, interpersonal and relationship issues, and healing the inner child, all aimed at enhancing clients' daily lives and their interactions within their communities.
